Acknowledged as Poland's best jazz drummer in polls carried out
by the monthly JAZZ in the years 1958-64. The German JAZZ PODIUM nominated him as the best
jazz drummer in the "Eastern Bloc". Gave concerts in well-known jazz clubs in
Europe and America. Played, accompanied and recorded with the best musicians: A.
Kurylewicz, A. Trzaskowski, R. Dylag, K. Komeda, Zb. Namyslowski, J. Milian, J. Pt.
Wróblewski, A. Makowicz, M. Urbaniak, U. Dudziak, W. Nahorny, W. Karolak, Zb. Wegehaupt,
A. Cudzich, J. Muniak, J. Smietana, H. Miskiewicz, T. Szukalski, T. Stanko, J.D.
Matuszkiewicz and P. Perlinski, among many others. Also played at concerts and recorded LP
with such international soloists as Stan Getz, Art Farmer, Don Ellis, Bud Powell, Rolf
Kuhn, "Lucky" Thompson, Johnny Griffin, Jon Hendricks, Louis Hjulmand, Albert
Mangelsdorf, Toots Thielemans, Paul Gonzalves, Eje Thellin, Brad Terry, Herb Geller and
Bernt Rosengren. Now plays only rarely, but still in good form as he demonstrated at Jazz
Camping 99 and 2001. Worked as a professional musician for Radio Orchestra in Cracow and as a percussionist in Andrzej Markowski's Musica Antiqua et Nova chamber orchestra. Twice took part, with the Cracow Philharmonic, in the Warsaw Autumn music festival.
